Face Painting by Ingrid!
When I was four years old, my parents took me to a carnival in our local town. It was my first Halloween creating my own costume, so dressed up as a dancing cat. I was a cat ballerina! A face painter there gave me my first face painting ever; kitty cat features to compliment my costume. As the cool paint landed on my face, and I stared at the artist in wonder, I thought, “Someday I’ll be a face painter!”
Indeed, I got started face painting in Brooklyn as part of the Artist Access program at Woodhull Medical Center and Cumberland Diagnostic Center. It was so much fun painting children’s faces – seeing them transform and light up with happiness! I started offering face painting to community centers, after-school and camp programs, public schools, and for special events like birthday parties, festivals, street fairs and block parties.
