What is Ingrid Alvarez 's artistic
philosophy?
To create anything in the realm of art, which is in itself can be
defined as everything if you want it to.

What are the artist's influences?
Her painted works have a close tie to Surrealist painters, Mexican
Muralists and Abstract artists. Her work not only draws from a Western
sensibility but also from that of the East. Ingrid has continued
to paint create scroll paintings after taking courses in Chinese
and Japanese watercolor painting. Humor and Irony also play a role
in her work as she analyzes her relationship to herself and others
as she lives each day. For her internalized pieces, the artist reaches
deeply within her emotional self just as Frida Kahlo and Salvador
Dali had in their painted works.

What mediums does Ingrid work in?
Ingrid works in a variety of mediums. Her painted works are primarily
oil on canvas. She also works in indian inks, watercolors, charcoals,
pastels, printmaking (monoprint), wire-work, papier maché,
and textiles.

Where has Ingrid Alvarez shown before?
Ingrid has had a number of show beginning at Seattle Central Community
College. She has shown widely in the Seattle area and in 2006, took

Who Designed the www.ingridalvarez.com website?
Ingrid's friend Marilee Veniegas designed
the website. They met at the University of Washington's School of
Art in a monoprint class. They also share a love of creating works
in textiles and making a lovely mess.

The font on the pages are cool, what's it
called?
The font on the website's titles is called "Horse Puke"
by designer Eduardo Recife. Mr. Recife is a Brazilian based artist
and graphic designer who has developed a number of typefaces including
the deconstructed style of Horse Puke.
